floods and mudslides. Therefore tropical storms can cause more damage depending on
how long they are on land.
Fifi, pictured at right, hit Guatemala in 1974 as a tropical storm destroying over 70% of its banana crop.

Guatemala = 16 tropical storms, 1 hurricane. Honduras = 13 tropical storms, 9 hurricanes.
El Salvador = 3 tropical storms, 1 hurricane. Nicaragua = 12 tropical storms, 12 hurricanes.
