Earthquakes

Location greatly effects how much damage there is after an earthquake. In the 1965 El Salvador earthquake there were a hundred people killed, and it was a 7.5 magnitude. In the 1972 nicaragua earthquake there were 11,000 deaths. And it was a 6.2.

1902- An Earthquake hit during a torrential rain storm.  The people lost all their power.  Many people ran into the streets, where they were killed when unseen objects fell on them.   The power outage and rainfall lasted 3 days, making it impossible for relief to come.  2,000 people lost their lives as a result of this earthquake.

1965- A 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit El Salvador.  100 people were killed.  Several hundred were injured and thousands were left homeless.

1972- Nicaragua was hit by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake.   11,000 people died.  20,000 people were injured and thousands were left homeless.   There were more than 100 aftershocks.
