Leslie Holsclaw in the days before he drove a gas-powered truck
and competed for road space with the big electric trolley cars.

Susie and Les were married for
three and one half years. Susie
never remarried after Les's death.

She left her furnishings much as
they were in her twenties. In sifting
through the memorabilia of her early
life, I came to see her as a sweet,
innocent lamb. I only knew her as
a child when she was in her fifties.

I remember, on one visit to her house,
we moved a curtain back from a
window to see outside. The curtain
disintegrated to our touch.

Could her heart have been as fragile?
