In the 1890’s the Honduran government contracted w/Britain to complete a railroad from Puerto Cortes to San Pedro Sula. Banana trade was first created to help railroads prosper in neighboring countries. Today Central America is known for their banana exports.

 

Coffee is also one of Central Americas main crops, making up more than 1/3 of it’s , export income.Between growing and processing, coffee employs 25% of the population
